WINDOWS OF MEMORY

Projection Mapping onto textile & p5.js animated sketch with live sourced texts and native Florida plants (Cocoplum and Firebush), 2026

This installation invites visitors to share their memories related to plants. This work aims to foster cultural memory through our relationship with plants, as we recall and reflect on past familial traditions while imagining potential future connections to our natural world.

Background:

In 2023, Alejandra began collecting memories of Broward County residents during the Bailey Contemporary Arts Center’s Artist in Residency program in Pompano Beach; since then, this project has continued to take various forms in her solo shows Lexicon de Plantas (2024) at the Frank Gallery in Pembroke Pines and TRES (2025) at Coral Springs. During IGNITE Broward, she will continue collecting memories to build the archive while also projection mapping visual interpretations from a selection of these memories.
